Step into spring with a zing!
The best way to feel great both inside and out is to eat fresh wholesome foods. We spoke Gwinganna Nutritionist Caroline Scott about how to start your day with spring in your step!
Caroline says spring is a great time to clear out your cupboards and find the juicer that may be lurking in the back somewhere.
Before we begin getting excited about feeling good about juicing everything in the fridge, she suggests we look at juicing vegetables. They are alkalising in the body and a great way to get the whole family to increase their veggie intake. We all enjoy plenty of fruit, especially in the summer and generally she finds it is the poor vegetables that miss out on their vital place in our diet. Our diets should be based on vegetables.
Juicing is also a great way to introduce vegetables to some of the younger members (and not so young members!) of the family who have not developed a love for these essential foods packed with vitality and age defying nutrients. Adding wheatgrass, spirulina or other similar green foods will add enzymes and nutrients to your living juice, and years to your life. Try a few different blends and develop a variety that you enjoy. Caroline's favourite suggestion: beetroot, celery, ginger, carrot. Its a great cleanser for the bowel and liver and extra ginger gives it some heat and digestive fire.
